UTT High Performance Coaches and Trainers on Course to Optimize the Athlete’s Development With Vern Gambetta

The Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs and Advanced Technologies, jointly hosted this course from September 22nd - 24th 2009 at the Hasley Crawford Stadium. UTT High Performance Coaches and Trainers benefitted from the Functional Path to Build and Rebuild the Complete Athlete "The Gambetta Method."
The facilitators, Vern Gambetta, Dr. David Joyner and Edwin Ryan, imparted their knowledge in the following areas:
team approach to working with the complete athlete by fostering communication between physician, physical therapist, athletic trainer, athletic development coach, the sport coach and athlete
To understand functional movement
Adapt a high performance coaching model
Provide a practical understanding of planning training and rehabilitation
Understand how the demands of the sport dictate the conditioning and rehabilitation programme "Take another look"
Understand the role of work capacity as a limiting factor in performance
Relate how training = Rehab and Rehab = Training
Relate the role of functional strength in the training/rehab process
Teach the role of movement mechanics as it applies to the development of sport specific speed
Understand the role of fundamental movement skill as a basis of specific sport skill
