1. What is the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT)? "The Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) was established by an act of Parliament, Act no. 16 of 2004, as the principal body in Trinidad and Tobago for conducting and advising on the accreditation and recognition of post-secondary and tertiary educational training institutions, programmes and awards, whether local of foreign and for the promotion of quality and standards for post-secondary and tertiary education and training in Trinidad and Tobago". (http://www.actt.org.tt/about/article.aspx?id=5694) 2. Why did The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) seek registration with the ACTT? In accordance with Act 16 of 2004 all post secondary and tertiary education institutions must be registered with the ACTT.
The institution applying for registration must first submit an Application for Registration providing narratives and evidence which demonstrate how the institution meets the seven criteria as stated by the ACTT. Once the minimum requirements have been satisfied, a site evaluation is conducted to verify the information contained in the Application for Registration. If the evaluation team is satisfied that the minimum requirements havebeen met then the institution is granted registration for a period up to three years.
The visit was conducted during the period April 20-23, 2009. 5. Who is on the ACTT team that will visit the campus? A three (3) person team of External Evaluators, made up of foreign and local experts, will be visiting the campuses.
The team will validate the information submitted in the Application for Registration relevant to the seven (7) ACTT criteria and corresponding standards. This will be done through observation, documentation review and interviews. The evaluators will meet with the President of the University and Senior Academic and Corporate staff as well as other stakeholders (that is, students and staff). | ||
