UTT Offers Certificate in Yoruba Language and Culture

THE UNIVERSITY of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) in conjunction with the International Council for Ifa Religion (Trinidad and Tobago Chapter) is inviting members of the public to register for a Certificate level course in Yoruba Language and Culture, to begin on September 23 in Tobago and September 20 at the UTT - Point Lisas Campus.

This course is part of UTTs proposed Caribbean Cultural Studies programme, which is being piloted by The Academy at UTT for Arts, Letters, Culture and Public Affairs. The course of training comprises a programme of research, teaching, public lectures and symposia.

The African Cultural Studies element in the Caribbean Cultural Studies Programme was launched with a Symposium, held in Tobago in November 2008 on the Life and Work of JD Elder Symposium.

The Certificate course in Yoruba Language and Culture, which began in July 2009 at the UTT - Valsayn Campus, will continue in September.

No academic pre-requisites are needed for registration, but students will be expected to attend classes and sit examinations in order to achieve certification.

To obtain a Registration Form, please go to www.u.tt or e-mail theacademy@utt.edu.tt .

For additional information on this course or to submit a completed registration form, contact The Academy at UTT for Arts, Letters, Culture and Public Affairs at theacademy @utt.edu.tt/674-8788 ext 5008.
