Year Two Social Studies student Guy Massiah and Sandy Jeremiah, a Year One (Group G) colleague of the University of T&T (UTT) School of Studies in Learning, Cognition and Education were crowned the third annual Mr and Ms UTT at the Corinth Teachers College in Ste Madeleine. The pageant, organised by former winner and president of the Corinth Events Club Trevlyn Martinez, was part of a tea party, fashion show and dance, held on March 21.

Massiah and Jeremiah reigned supreme over the 12 other participants on the show, with superior competence, style and eloquence. Bearing a sense of regal style and personality on stage, the couple excelled in the introductory, fashion, classroom attire, Q&A and formal segments.

This show offered much to patrons in song and dance and its memorable moments by guest artistes included Liesel Frederick's rendition of R Kelly and Celine Dion's I'm Your Angel and Alana Cupid's infectious delivery of Everything I do, I do it for you, made popular by Bryan Adams.

Other highlights of the evening were the fashion segment, with model students strutting their stuff in designer clothing provided by the House of Jacqui, and Designer Look in Gulf City.

It's not just about books
At the end of a most enjoyable and entertaining evening, Martinez said: "The event aims to bring everyone together in a different way. "It is not always about the academics, but a time to relax a little. "We are hoping to have all eight campuses send a representative as we will host one major event in the future."
