Ruptures into Silence

About the Author:
Carol Laura Andrews-Redhead was born in Trinidad and Tobago. She has lived, studied and worked in England, Canada and the United States of America. Upon her return to Trinidad and Tobago, she has served as a teacher, guidance counsellor and diagnostic specialist in Special Education. Presently, she is an Assistant Professor in Language and Literature at The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) and resides with her son Adam and her husband.
Carol Andrews-Redhead's intense and touching tale, "Ruptures into Silence", tells a story of love, pain and hope in a stylethat is warm, lush with words and and full of surprises. This is a story of personal rebellion and of the reconciling forces of human existence, two juxtaposing forces that give [rise to] the Meaning to Life.

About the Novel: 'Ruptures into Silence'
Margaret Vivian, an intelligent, precocious young woman, has chosen to live in her own way. She grew up in the beautiful countryside of the island Taringa, with both parents and her younger sister, Josephine. However, during the teen years of her mother Viola's life, Viola was subjected to a traumatic experience: She was raped. This violent act had resulted in the birth of Margaret Vivian. Since Viola did not know who had violated her body and bruised her spirit, she recoils into silence. It is only many years later that Viola realizes who had been responsible for her distress. It was her brother's friend, Graham, whom she had eventuallymarried. The revelation of Graham's culpability was so shocking and disgusting to Viola that it changed her entire personality - and her children suffered - especially Margaret Vivian. Margaret Vivian's life becomes intolerable. However, the pain is lessened when she meets her soul mate, Stanley. However, his untimely death creates much sorrow. Later, Margaret Vivian gains solace from her mother with whom she resolves many issues. At the end of Margaret Vivian's life, narrated through her niece Olivia, the reader gains some insight into the Meaning of Margaret Vivian's Life.

The novel, "Ruptures into Silence", is available at Reader's Book Shop, Long Circular, St. James, Nigel R.Khan Booksellers, Barnes and Noble and Amazon.com.
