The Professional Education Unit (PEU) of The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) presented their second annual training workshop, “Quarry Rehabilitation with Special Emphasis on Agriculture” during the period January 29 -February 04, 2010. Participants were treated to a field trip to Tobago and were led into practical discussion about the nature and importance of the local quarry industry and the management and monitoring of this industry.  International Consultant Mr. David Jarvis of David Jarvis Associates Limited (UK) was also on-hand to lend expertise to these discussions.

The opening ceremony, which took place at the UTT at NAPA Campus, was addressed by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries, Mr. Leroy Mayers, Dr. Joth Singh, Chief Executive Officer, Environmental Management Authority (EMA) and Mr. Ramdeo Persad, President, Quarry Association of Trinidad and Tobago
